It should also be noted that there is a likelihood of some materials being leached into the water, which together with materials already in the water at source, could exceed the maximum limits set in the EC Directive on Water Quality and therefore it is recommended that before putting such units into service where the water may be ingested, advice should first be sought from the Water Undertaker. |

Water Undertakers are permitted to use silver (in public water supplies) as a disinfectant for emergency use only with a maximum concentration of 80ug/l and for as short a time as possible and for no longer than 90 days in any year. This limitation does not apply to the use of silver in supplies of water within premises where the water is not consumed. |
