REGULATIONS REVIEW DELAYED

The Water Fittings Regulations review process started by Defra in 2008 slowed during 2009. The change of government means that continuation of the review depends on the new ministers.

 

Peter Jiggins of the Water Availability and Quality department of Defra (formerly Water Supply & Regulation) said that a Water Fittings Regulations review was probably some time off, as it would have to await the outcome of a white paper on broad environmental perspectives to be published in April 2011 and a water white paper which will identify more detailed proposals for the water sector.  Water efficiency is a key policy area which will be reviewed, as Government wanted to ensure that any proposed changes would be effective,
