Click here to download the WRAS Material Approval guidance.

1) Complete the M2 application form.

a) Contact a suitably accredited test laboratory in order to submit samples for BS6920 testing. You can find the contact details of test facilities by clicking here.

b) Once testing is satisfactorily completed, please forward the M2 and test reports to the WRAS address

c) The Materials Administrator will check the report and assuming it is satisfactory, request a purchase order number in order to generate an invoice for the cost of administering the approval (325.00 GBP each + VAT where applicable).

d) Once a purchase order number has been received, an approval number and letter will be issued. Your approval will be displayed on the WRAS website Directory

f) The approval number is based on the date of the test report and expires after a 5 year period.

RE-APPROVAL OF PREVIOUSLY APPROVED MATERIAL (AUDIT)

a) Your WRAS approval will expire five years after the date of the test report. One year before this date you will receive a letter and MA3 form advising you of the upcoming expiry. Please complete the relevant section and return this form (via e-mail or post).

b) Should you wish to apply for re-approval, once WRAS receive the MA3, the Administrator will issue a letter stating the necessary test work to be carried out. This is likely to be limited testing depending on whether the material has changed since the lasttime it was tested (i.e. site of manufacture/manufacturing process)

c) Contact an accredited test facility to carry out testing. You can find the contact details of test facilities by clicking here.

d) Once testing is satisfactorily completed, please forward the MA3 and test reports to the WRAS address

e) The Materials Administrator will check the report and assuming it is satisfactory, request a purchase order number in order to generate an invoice for the cost of administering the approval (325.00 GBP each + VAT where applicable).

f) Once a purchase order number has been received, an approval number and letter will be issued. Your material approval will be displayed on the WRAS website Directory

g) The approval number is based on the date of the test report and expires after a 5 year period.

SECONDARY APPROVAL

A secondary material approval enables a retailer, wholesaler or other third party to sell or otherwise market a WRAS Approved Material under another trade name.

You can find all the information, application guidance and forms for secondary material approvals here.

3) PLEASE NOTE:

a) WRAS, as the approval body, are independent of the test houses and do not carry out any testing. The fee for WRAS Approval does not include the price of testing.

b) Your chosen laboratory will advise what samples to send according to WRAS guidelines and the time-scale of testing.

c) Once a satisfactory test report, application form and purchase order number has been received, the approval is generally issued within a few days.
