A water supplier is not liable if secondary dosing equipment installed in premises fails or becomes defective. Responsibility for maintaining equipment to ensure the quality and safety of water supplies within the premises lies with the owner or occupier of the premises, even if consent [under the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations/ Byelaws] for the installation of the dosing equipment has been granted by the water supplier
