Regulation 11 of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations and Scottish Water Byelaws enables water suppliers to seek a relaxation to vary any requirement of Schedule 2 of the Regulations or Byelaws they consider to be inappropriate from the relevant Regulator. Relaxations may be sought by one or more water supplier.
Relaxations granted in England by the Secretary of State, in Wales by the Welsh Assembly, in Scotland by the Scottish Minister and in Northern Ireland by the Department for Regional Development. To date no relaxations have been granted under the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009.
Details of relaxations, including where these apply, granted to date:
- Shower (bidet) for disabled users
- Provision of equivalent safety devices on unvented hot water primary and secondary storage systems. (Please note the terms of this relaxation supersede an earlier relaxation granted for the Provision of equivalent safety devices on unvented water heaters.)
