Spillover slot details

This is measured across the base of the spillover slot. Note: This is non-circular in design which will help prevent blockages.

Inlet details

Internal size of inlet (mm)

This is the largest of either:

  • the largest measurement across the inside (bore) of the of inlet pipe over the last 1 metre; or
  • the nominal diameter (DN) of the inlet connection.

Water inflow (l/min)

This is usually a calculated value. If there are site specific factors which reduce the flow available to the cistern/product this may be used in place of the calculated value.

Mesh screen details

Sometimes it is useful to have a mesh screen to prevent ingress of insects/animals etc. into the storage cistern. In fault conditions the use of a meshed screen will restrict the escaping water. These restrictions must be accounted for within the design.

This is the percentage of the spillover slot which will remain open and not obscured by the wire mesh of the screen. (for 50% free area enter 50)

This figure can usually be found in the manufacturer's specification.

Where information on the % free area is not available, use the 'I don't know the free area' manual entry function to determine the effect of the mesh screen.

This is the side to side thickness of the material making up the mesh screen covering the overflow slot.

Where the dimension for the mesh material in the vertical is different to that in the horizontal, a detailed calculation is required to determine the percentage of free area.
